Saison from homepage

Made this this afternoon and it wasn’t until I got completely done that I realized I left out the wheat, dammit. Also it called for dark candi sugar so I found a website that told how to make your own, pretty cool and cheaper than buying it.

What’s the website? Thanks.

The AHA website, the one we are on.

I doubt that 0.4 pounds of wheat will make a significant difference.  Was your original gravity close enough for you?

Well, not really, it was 1.070 and the recipe had 1.080. But I guess it’ll do.

It will still be tasty beer!

I think he was asking for the website on how to make your own candi sugar.

I remember seeing recipes for candi syrup on Homebretalk.  Here are the links:

This one talks mainly about how to achieve the differenct colors:

Here is the one discussing making dark candi syrup:

I remember there being another really good thread about this and I’ll see if perhaps I can find that one too. Hope these help in the interim.

You can add the sugar as primary fermentation slows. I wouldn’t worry about trying to get the wheat in the beer.

I’ve tried several of those homemade candy sugar recipes and while several make good products that will add good flavor to your beer, none of them come close to the complexity of the commercial products.
