Grrr

2012 VW Golf TDI clean diesel.

Unfortunately I have not been able to take it for a ride as I am on baby duty and I did not have the car seat! My wife gets home at 10 and I will take it for a spin.

Congrats, Dad!

your wife got you those hop plants?  way cool, the damn car is blocking part of the picture though.  have fun

Sweet!

I have an '06 Jetta TDI…you’ll love the Golf!

Ha! yeah those are my first year cascades. they are doing alright!

Yeah I love the TDIs. I just sold my 2003 Jetta TDI. Posted on craigslist and had like 6 people all trying to make sure THEY got the car within an hour. popular cars! I ended up selling it for like 400 over book sight unseen.

My wife drives the 2010 Jetta TDI sportswagon. We are a VW family.

I don’t play golf…why would I want a golf cart?

I knew there was something I liked about you Jonathan. My first vehicle was a GTI (graduation present) and my daily driver is an 07 Rabbit. I am firmly in the VW camp.

Fantastic gift. Now with the fuel savings you can finally get that Thermapen. ;D

What happens if someone smax n2 ya?

that’s what insurance is for. also it has like thirty seven airbags. some of the safest cars on the road

What happens when gas prices go up to $10/gallon? I don’t think he’ll have to worry about someone smacking it to him then

My parents have a diesel Jetta. That thing ROCKS! It climbs mountains like a champ, great on gas, looks awesome. Congrats on the new ride man! That beauty will serve you well

What kind of mileage does it get?

Are you thinking of making your own diesel?

I’ve never done it - but I’ve read/been told German diesels (VW, BMW, Benz) are all great candidates for conversion.

Well happy fathers day! Nice ride. I’m seriously considering diesel for my next car.

Your mileage may vary.  Had to say that.

In the mid-90’s a coworker drove his diesel Jetta from Austin to Toronto and back on two tanks of fuel. F’ing amazing.

I got 48 mpg on the way to work this morning. My old 2003 averaged 49 so it might actually be a bit of a drop due to MORE POWER!!! plus it’s a new car so I have been a little agressive with the accel. trying to back that instinct off as it’s still in breakin period.

I have thought about making my own diesel but I don’t see it happening anytime super soon. If you manufactur actuall diesel there isn’t really any conversion to be done. I used to use B100 when I lived in berkeley cause i could get it there. in Davis, not so much  :-\

This is my third TDI, I can’t really see going back to gas. 700+ mile range is pretty sweet. and the torque is awesome.

Apparently they’re talking about making it illegal to bring diesels inside Paris. (due to things like this, most likely: http://www.skynews.com.au/national/article.aspx?id=760863&vId= )

HOWEVER this wouldn’t apply to newer cars like yours - only the old old old jalopy diesels a lot of people are still driving that don’t have particle filters.

I kid you not, I was behind a Dodge 2500 pickup yesterday at a light that had a huge CUMMINS sticker on the back
and when the light turned green, the sky turned black.

Also have the twin vertical exhaust stack trucks, semi truck style.  At least they spew upward.

In the intermountain west here, it is still “cool” to blow black smoke.

Pretty nice present Morticai, wow.  New cars are spendy.
I am still looking for a old VW diesel pickup that has round headlights.

Cheers to the new diesel engines,
too bad we cannot get them all here in the States. ::slight_smile:

When diesel is taxed like gas or diesel produced by algae becomes available, I’ll buy a diesel.  In the meantime, I just don’t drive enough miles to justify the extra cost of a diesel car.
