I’m just gonna state up front that I really like what they call ‘retro’ beers nowadays. My favorite is Strohs, partly because it used to be made in Detroit (my home town) and it’s been in my house since I can remember, and partly because it’s cheap!
That being said, to me this Shiner tastes like a revved up Strohs. Alot more hop flavor comes through and it generally just tastes like a really good Strohs! It’s ‘spritzy’ and refreshing. Quite good. Although I can’t figure out why it’s called a “Dortmunder” if it’s an ale?? Tastes like a lager to me! I think they’re trying to rival Sam Adams Noble Pils, but it’s not even close. Still it’s a great summer beer.
