Anyone know the deal with this recipe which is touted as "…Category #17: India Pale Ale (IPA)during the 2016 National Homebrew Competition Final Round in Baltimore, MD. Treadway and Vreeland’s English IPA was chosen as the best among 456 entries in the category."?
The ingredients are way off for an 11 gal batch–no way this is right. OG and AVB work out to be 1.038 and 3.6% respectively. Could it be 5.5 gallons?
Thanks,
Dave
I found this version https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/480136/the-duke-english-ipa on another website and it makes much more sense.
If homebrewersassociation is going to go to the trouble of putting these recipes on the site, I do wish they’d get them right, otherwise what’s the point except to frustrate their members!
For what it is worth, my guess is that the Maris Otter component is a typo that should read 22 rather than 12 pounds.
