The Everything Hard Cider Book

Maybe Drew is forbidden for promoting his book since he is a member of the Governing Committee, but I’m surprised this hasn’t been posted here.  This little beauty is on a plane/truck/bicycle/whatever on its way to me (delivery tomorrow).

Adding to the list of other books (Hops, Yeast, soon to be Water ) that I still need to finish reading.

Of course, if I don’t win Cider Maker of the Year, I will be asking for a refund  ;D

Sweet! (or dry). It is whizzing through the air to my kindle.

Not only is it loaded with great info, but Drew’s writing style makes it a really good read!  Thanks God he’s editing what I write for our book!

Yeah, I just wasn’t sure about how kosherized it would be for me to promote it here - but in the meanwhile, reaction seems to be good! More people should buy it so I can make more stuff!

Reading right now, about 80 pages in. Very well written, the writing style makes it easy to read. All the good information helps too!

I’m through the first few chapters, which are definitely geared toward the beginner cider maker.  Flipping through the next chapters, I see a lot of in depth info which looks like it’s going to make it a worthwhile purchase.  I’m looking forward to reading it.

Yeah, the goal of the book was to make a cider book that didn’t start with “In order to make great cider, you need great apples. In order to get great apples, you must first plant an orchard”

My humble opinion says promote it.  But this brings up a question…  In a non-BJCP, people’s choice competition, is it kosher (sorry) to have beer and cider on one ballot?

I don’t see why not

Hell, I’ve mixed beer, mead and cider together in a BJCP BOS in some of these tiny competitions around the area. I think non-BJCP peoples’ choice would be just fine.

Just purchased, will definitely read before I try to make anything

You won’t regret it!  Not only is it full of great info, it’s really well written and very readable.

I think pretty much any competition scheme, BJCP or not, is fine as long as contestants know what to expect upfront.
