Red Poppy was one of the beers that really turned me on to sours. Over the years I’ve noticed it drift to a more strong acetic bite, which I’m not a huge fan of. I took a year or two off, and I’m kicking into a new bottle I just picked up.
I am really enjoying this recent release. The acetic character has really been tamed compared to a few years back. The balance is there and that really let’s the complexity shine. The overall tartness is just a bit lower than usual, but I’ll take it. I’m looking forward to including this in my new house sour culture.
