Therminator and 1.5" tri-clover fittings

Hell fellow Brewers!! I have been lurking around this site for a year and I finally joined! I have a newbie question about the therminator. I will be purchasing one soon and I want to outfit it with tri-clover fittings but I’m unsure if there is enough space between the ports to do such a thing? If anyone has any pictures of doing this that would be great. If it will not work does anyone have any suggestions for doing it other ways? I’m looking at outfitting my HLT, BKk, MT, and pump to all tri clamp fittings for ease of use and cleanup. Thanks for the help

I don’t know the answer to your question about tri-clamp fittings, but a lot of people use stainless camlock fittings on their plate chillers (I use them for connections to pumps, etc., and they’re great).

Example (not mine): St. Louis Brews

If there’s not enough space between the ports for tri-clamp fittings, maybe you could use a 90° elbow fitting and then a tri-clamp.

My guess is they wouldn’t fit. This is going off of the dimensions listed in the specs. Height is 3" and that includes the base. Camlocks are nice, inexpensive, and easy to clean.

ETA - email blichmann support. I doubt you’re the first to ask.

They won’t fit unless you do something like narcout suggests.

You have to think about how much width the clamps add as well.

I use male 1/2" camlock fittings on my Therminator. That works well. All of my hoses have female camlocks and all the equipment has male camlocks. With silicone gaskets in the camlocks, they seal very well.

Exactly this. I just bought 2 SS street elbows to convert my Therminator. The other option would be to get some sort of FPT/FPT coupler with a MPT to TC fitting, but there’s no guarantee you can find one long enough.

Alright thank you. I will go with the cam lock fittings.
