Trip to Texas

I’ll be traveling to Carrollton, TX and was wondering if anybody has any recommendations for local brews/breweries to try.  I’m from CT, so I’d be interested in anything unique to TX even.

Thanks!

Maybe a bit late, but check out or look for draught beers from Franconia, Live Oak?, Rahr & Sons & Real Ale and be sure to stop by Lone Star Bevo for some St. Arnold & Southern Star before leaving town.

If you can find it - try the Gingerman multitap - Live Oak Pilz is good, and so is Real Ale Full Moon Rye.

As far as breweries, not much due to existing laws. I’ve heard Franconia in Plano is good. If you’re out the Fort Worth way, I highly recommend The Covey. Small little brewpub that serves game-inspired dishes like buffalo and pheasant. A bit on the $$$ side for food, but they have beer specials every night. They won two silvers at last years GABF and have one of the best Vienna lagers I’ve had year-round. Rahr is also in Ft. Worth and they do tours every Saturday. Gingerman has fallen way down on my list. They never have half the beers on their menu. I prefer the Flying Saucer in Addison and Downtown Ft. Worth. Addison is very close to Carrolton.

Thanks!  I’ll keep my eyes open for all of your recommendations.

I didn’t really get a chance to find all of your suggestions due to traveling with a group of co-workers.  I did try Shiner bock and Black Beauty stout, though.  Not sure which brewery makes the Black Beauty…  I didn’t really care for the Shiner bock.  Black Beauty was pretty good.  Maybe next time I’ll get a chance to seek out all of your suggestions.  Thanks again!

Even if it’s not in Carrollton, you may see it over by 6 flags…

Like Seafood?  You just hit the jackpot!
The beer line up is pretty much standard fare…
