This is a good one. You know that smell that certain macro light lagers have (like a can of Modelo)? I don’t know how it’s achieved, but this has it. Other than the finish (which has that certain non-alcoholic beer flavor), the taste and aroma is very close to real beer.
According to the label, they remove the alcohol as opposed to brewing it to be non-alcoholic from the start. I haven’t tried enough different brands to know if that makes a huge difference or not.
It’s 68 calories with 0 grams of sugar. I’m really enjoying it.
If they use RO - I’m thinking it could be ultrafiltration - is there then a beer that is concentrated in alcohol that is also produced? Alcohol gotta go somewhere!
How strong was the alcoholic beer? Was it palatable? This must be a function of the selectivity of the filtration, but I would think the filtration must be fairly selective to make a non alcoholic beer that is not stripped of other flavors, leaving the rejected alcoholic portion imbalanced. It is a fascinating proposition if it is workable.
