I am President of the Kanawha Valley Homebrew Club and we are not satisfied with our current website and want to see how others are hosting and the content in your website. Would appreciate information such as program to build and host, elements of your site (most used and least used), size of your club, etc.
I would say the first question is what about your current setup is unsatisfying?
We ended up using Shopify, but that’s because we get it at a steeeeep discount and I can’t really recommend it for most clubs.
Our club uses Discord.
We use discord for chat. As far as club management, I couldn’t find anything out there that met all our needs so I designed and built a member portal application. It’s a pwa app hosted in Google Cloud Platform, which allows users to download it on their mobile devices, regardless of what platform they use.
Some of the features are
- Calendar that syncs to our Google calendar automatically.
- A system for users to submit points for various activities that we track for club member of the year.
- A events system that we use to track what members are going to festivals that we are attending and what they are bringing.
- It fully runs our Intraclub comps, members submit entries, print labels and also inlcudes a fully digital judging system.
- Push notifications, officers can push notifications to users who have the feature enabled.
- Everything is backed by a fully managed Postgres database.
I’ve thought about offering it to other clubs to see if they would find useful. If anyone is interested let me know.
