Whoaaaaaa!!!!!!!

In my study, about a foot below my ceiling is a bookshelf that runs around the room…So I i’m sitting here with a bud having a home brew and he’s reading the titles: Mark Twain, Jimmy Buffet, Frank Zappa, Rush Limbo, Tim Allen and … Charlie Papazian… WAIT, Charlie can’t be up there yet, he’s “current”… So I get the stool out and get the book down. Now, I sign and date my books when I buy them…12/92 WHAT? I do not remember buying that, or reading it for that matter, and that happened 20 years ago? OK, so I have the current copy that I bought last year…I guess I have two now… :o :o :o

I’d say either stop drinking so much or stop smokin so much…

cough, cough

ahh oscar it was destiny!! you were meant for this hobby.

Like others as so it seems. 8)

Perhaps all of that high altitude time has compressed the memory.

Nice find!

OK, after further investigation it turns out to be a second edition…They are now happily reunited next to each other…

I read that book and brewed my first beer around that time. Was it 92-93? Wish I still had the copy. Nice find… You must have had a passing fancy and got distracted. Is there much of a difference in the editions?

Dunno, will have to go through them, side by side, page by page… in my copious spare time…

If by second edition, you mean The New Complete Joy and you’re comparing it to the third edition, there are quite a few differences, particularly in the recipes.

The first one I bought, I think it was 1990, had no index.  The next edition was quite an improvement just for that.

It is indeed the “new”…

Didn’t you starting brewing only last year?  Took a long time for the spark to catch, huh?  I think my mom gave me a 1st or 2nd edition a while ago that I don’t know where it is now…oh well.  I already had a 3rd edition, so I was all, I don’t need it, blah blah blah…

Nice “find!”  I love that book and just read it for the first time this month.  The way concepts are described really increased my understanding.  One of my co-workers dropped by my office last year and said, “Hey I found this book at a thrift store for 50 cents and thought of you.”  I couldn’t believe it!  I thanked her and told her that I’d been meaning to buy a copy of the book for years.
