Yeast used by Hamm's or Lost Forty Brewing 2nd Rodeo

Does anybody know the exact yeast used in Hamm’s or Lost Forty’s 2nd Rodeo?

It’s proprietary. Molson Coors isn’t going to disclose that info but IMHO 34/70 will get you there if you’re looking to brew a clone of Hamm’s. On a side note…actually going to purchase a 30 pack of Hamm’s tmrrw for a friends Friday night party!! It is really good beer.

thank you.

It’s probably not “The” strain, but maybe try Jasper Yeast’s JY345 if you can order it. You really can’t go wrong with 34/70 though.

thank you.

I’m probably an outlier in thinking that dry 34/70 is so bland that it makes a boring beer. Reliable, yes, but bland. When it comes to dry lager strains, S-189 or S-23 are the ones that offer any character (good or bad, depending on the palate).

Liquid lager strains are a different story. To this end, if you ever have the opportunity to get your hands on Wyeast 2272, pay whatever you have to for shipping and ice packs, even if you have to pay to ship it overnight to a distant moon of Jupiter. It’s worth it. And you won’t need to pay for an ice pack if you are shipping in the cold vacuum of outer space.

WLP840 or Wyeast 2035 American Lager Yeast, is what the clone recipe indicates
