Hey all! I’ve been around other homebrew forums for a while now and I wanted to venture out. Someone recommended AHA forums.
A little about myself:
Been homebrewing 5 years, all-grain for 4
I have an awesome, college-budget-friendly set up
I like to make weird stuff. I have a recipe for an amazing Sahti I’d love to share.
Looking forward to learning from and contributing to this forum!
Hook us up with your Sahti recipe! I’ve been wanting to brew one for a while now. Welcome!
Welcome. I want to brew a sahti too, unfortunately what I thought was a juniper in my yard may actually be a cedar. I 'll still make one though, so about that recipe . . .

Glad to post it. BTW is there a recipe database I can enter it into?
So this isn’t a traditional Sahti recipe but here we go:
5# US 2-row
2# Rye Malt
1# Munich Malt
0.75# Crystal 120L
0.5oz Cascade (6.9%) 60min
0.25oz Juniper Berries 60min
0.25oz Juniper Berries 15min
0.25oz Grains of Paradise 5min
1.5L starter of Wyeast 1272 Am. Ale II
However, these are the two most important steps to making Sahti:
Boil your juniper branches (I collect about a backpack full) in your mash liquor before hand. 15 minutes should do it. Your house/patio/garage will smell amazing.
Lauter wort from mash through fresh juniper branches.
