I have a Citra hopped IPA one week into fermentation. I am planning on dry hopping it. I was going to use Cascades for the dry hop but noticed I have 2 oz of Kent Goldings on hand. Any opinions on which of these would be better?
I vote Cascade.
I’ll second that vote.
Me too. Cascade has better aroma qualities than KG, IMHO. I use KG for bittering/flavor.
Cascade seems like a better match for the citra than the goldings would be. i’d use the cascades.
Thankyou for your responses. I went with the Cascades as originally intended. I don’t know how I got these goldings. I am guessing from a recipe kit I modified some time ago. Any suggestions on what to do with them?
Feel like brewing just about anything English?
I am always up for something new.
How old are the Goldings?
Those buggers aren’t as intense as American varietals, so they lose their luster pretty quickly.
I don’t know how old they are. I don’t know how I got them. Probably in a recipe kit I modified. I just found them in the freezer when I was getting my cascades and wondered about using them.
