Has anyone experienced a disappearing BeerSmith folder? Several times I have created a folder under ‘My Recipes’ only to have it disappear …sometimes within an hour …sometimes within a cpl days. Bizarro.
I’ve seen this addressed more than once in the Beersmith forum. Perhaps take a look over there.
The problem is usually caused by a Windows 10 update taking place when BeerSmith has been closed and is still saving data or when it’s still opene and abruptly shut down without warning. As long as Win10 is controlling update timing, the best you can do is close the program when not in use.
More comprehensive information is available on the BS web site.
I backup all of my BeerSmith folders on a flash drive as insurance against loss. I also backup the BeerSmith3 folder in the “Documents” section of my computer to the same flash drive so that I don’t lose my inventory of ingredients. I do both of these after every brew session or after formulating a new recipe. That way I can restore them if something like a disappearing folder happens.
Thx folks.
I am now noticing individual recipe contents in the ‘My Recipes’ folder disappearing. The name is there but when I select it, there is no content and the program asks if I want to delete it. Weird.
Backing up may be the best course of action. Shame it’s so unstable to cause such issues.
I’ve been using it since just before BS2 was released and have never experienced what you describe. The only issues I’ve ever had is because the program closed unexpectedly which causes problems for everyone due to background processes not being able to complete before closing. The most common way this happens is if you leave BS open and a system update runs and reboots while you are away but manually shutting down the computer while BS is running does the same thing. What most people have learned is to always close BS when you are done and refrain from leaving it run unattended.
The Problem can be due to a Windows 10 Update.
Its happening in BS3 mobile on an iPad running iOS.
I posted the issue in the BS forum. Maybe there’s a solution.
