Big Brew Day 2013

This will be the first year that I (and my local LHBS) are participating in the AHA Big Brew Day. The AHA home page currently has a splash story on the More Fun Blonde Ale being ‘one of the recipes for this year’s BBD’, are there other recipes coming as well? I had heard that BBD is focused around a single recipe rather than multiple ones.

There are actually 3 recipes:

But some of us are brewing others as well.

My club is brewing 60 gallons for a Flanders Red that is to go in our club oak barrel.

I’m hosting like I have for years, but it’s gonna be a pretty small event.  The biggest brewfest around always gets scheduled for the same day and a lot of people do that instead.

Our LHBS hosts a big event every year: group brew, homebrew garage sale, seminars and classes, food trucks, pints by the neighboring nanobrewery, etc.

I don’t know how I missed seeing the recipe link on the BBD page, must’ve been a Homer moment  ???

Lucky dogs. How cool would that be?  A day of brewing with Denny!  Jealous

Ya know, people are always less impressed with me after they meet me…

I was pretty impressed with you when I met you. Then again, you had beer.  ;D

Mr Modesty
I will have to get down there some day and see if that’s true lol

You’re always welcome, Jim.

Marc, I think that it was that you’d been drinking…

I went out out there one year. We seemed to drive and drive forever. Finally we arrived at this quaint little ranch with a nice brewshed where I saw the coolest garden gnome I’d ever laid eyes on…then it moved and I realized it was Denny.

I plead the fifth… Beer, that is.  8)

I’ll take you up on that before its all over. May have to bring my wife and a tent… no way I’m not having a beer.

My wife and I drove up from California to visit Big Brew 2005 at Denny’s.  The whole experience with the group of brewers that were there that day as well as the whole charm of the Eugene area sold us that that is where we wanted to call home.  By October of that year we had backed up our bags and moved to that area.  The people that we met that day and the days following that are now our lifetime friends.

Sorry I did not make it out there this year.  With the nice weather we have been having, things in the vineyard have really taking off.  I was thinking of you though.

Cheers.

We missed you guys, Tom!  I was thinking about that first day you showed up and our trip to the river!  See ya in a few weeks for Iron Brewer!

If he has that Ukulele close at hand IM IN!!

You DON’T want to hear Denny play that. :o

either that, or Denny had one too many hop joints at NHC  ;D
