Boiled Peanuts

Picked up a 10lb bag of green peanuts.

Boiling as we speak.

Going to eat some hot tonight while watching a movie and can the rest tomorrow.

There is a man in Hawaii who is green with envy!

Early in the season for green peanuts…  I want some!

In my house they never last long enough to see the inside of a can.

That’s why I got 10 lbs. I figured I couldn’t eat them all in one sitting

What kinda spices 'you put in that boil?

I just used plain pickling salt @ 1 cup/gallon water because my grandkids are coming over and I didn’t want to make it too spicy for them. They like to sit on the back porch and spit out the hulls. It keeps them occupied a while (and quite ;)).

Crab boil with a couple of ounces of  chili powder thrown in is a pretty good spice mix. Goes good with a couple of cold ones.

Lightweight!  ;D

OH, to have some fresh peanuts!

I got a can of cajun-style boiled peanuts in the cupboard. Must. Open. Them.

oh man, bulled peenuts, them’s good eatin’. Where I’m from we say bulled, anyway. Maybe I should try growing some peanuts next year…

Boiled peanuts?  Say what?  I thought all peanuts looked like this:

;D

i love boiled peanuts.  about the only thing good about mississippi is, lots of people sell them roadside and in seafood places and whatnot.

Boiled peanuts and beer!  8)

It’s what’s good fuyya.  ;D

That is served in heaven!

My mouth is burning now. One can of wonderful cajun-style boiled peanuts heated in the micro snaffled up in a frenzy of munchies.

Thank god I don’t have 10 pounds of them…

I wish we didn’t have to buy Raw Walmart peanuts but you got to have raw nuts!

Update…

Canned all I had left and my wonderful and loving kids came over Father’s Day and took all of the pints home with them >:( >:( >:(

%$&#ing Kids!!!

I love them though

So, bought some more.

This time I pressure cooked them. Tubercle thought, why not? I pressure cook everything else ;D

I put a couple of pounds in a 1 cup salt/1gallon water ratio brine and brought them to a boil and cut off the heatand let them soak in the hot brine for 1 hour to saturate the hulls. Clamped down the lid and then 45 minutes @ 15 psi. They turned out better than if they had been cooked all day.

I have found a new method 8) 8)

I need to find a way to get a sack from tubercle!

Y’all ain’t got Valencias in Colorado?

I’m in WisconSIN! Don’t have peanuts here. Sadly.

My bad… :-[ :-[ The Boulder made me think of Colorado.

In any case…cost + S&H might solve that. PM?
