what is the general consensus on reusing corks and or cages to bottle home brew? I know I can reuse bottles but has anybody ever been successful with sanitizing or boiling corks to reuse them?

I sure wouldnt.

I wouldn’t either, and I’d especially not reuse the wire cages. Cheap metal can only flex so much before it fatigues enough to be significantly weaker. Reusing corks may spoil a batch of beer, but reusing cages could create a sticky mess.
