Brulosophy MACC IPA

I’ve seen the MACC IPA mentioned in at least one of the XBMTs on Brulosophy and it sounds interesting.  No luck finding anything on here about people trying it and there seems to be some differences between the Love2Brew kit and the recipe on Brulosophy’s page.

Has anyone had any experience with this one?

Kit Profile:
Malts & Specialty Grains
- 10 lb. 2-Row Brewers Malt

  • 2 lb. Munich Malt 10L
    - 10 oz. Honey Malt

Fermentables
Name                                   Amount
**Domestic 2-Row                   10 lbs 15 oz **
Munich (10L)                   2 lbs
Gambrinus Honey Malt           11 oz

The subs are the same things with different names.

Weights are slightly different.

There could be multiple reasons. Email Marshall and ask.

Right, focus here is on the amounts.  Not a bad idea about contacting them.

Recipe sounds like it could be really good (and juicy!).

The percentages are very close. It may just be a matter of efficiency as one recipe has a pound of grain more than the other.

kit: 12 lb 10 oz
80.3% two row
14.7% munich
5% honey malt

brulosophy: 13 lb 10 oz
79.2% two row
15.8% munich
5% honey malt

I think that explains it.  In the dry hop quantity xbmt the 11 gallon batch was scaled incorrectly are resulted in 7 percent honey malt versus 5 and looked like this:

Name                 Amount      %
2-Row       21 lbs 1 oz       79.6
Munich       3 lbs 8 oz       13.3
Honey Malt       1 lbs 14 oz         7.1

Update for anyone that may care (now or in the future)…

I brewed this early this week with the second grain bill:
Fermentables
Name                                    Amount
Domestic 2-Row                      10 lbs 15 oz
Munich (10L)                          2 lbs
Gambrinus Honey Malt              11 oz

My fermentation chamber/room has never smelled so good…I can’t wait for this one to go to keg!
