I’m doing a Fathers D’ APA. MO and 2row base, Vienna Munich and crystal 15 steeping, Simcoe and cascade hops. Pretty basic but a great way to spend the day.
Bittering it up. Uk 2 row, crystal, and that oh so special roast, and some torrified/terrified wheat. Nothing but first gold hops. 1968.
On another note, I use muntons 2 row, I need a new sack, not to hijack but goon to try something new for next sack. Sticking to ukish, what are the preferences between bairds, fawcett, and crisp?
Brewing up a wit. Just getting started actually which is later than my usual start time but I’m taking it easy today. My wife took the kids out and they’ve got a full day of stuff planned to keep them busy.
My older son gave me a painted brick. He said it’s a door stop. I’m trying to figure out where I can incorporate it in the brewing process. Maybe I’ll use it to prop up the mash tun when I’m running off.
No brewing today for me. Our Father’s Day tradition is strawberry picking and we scored big time today. I’ll keep a pound or two in the fridge for snacking and the rest is going in the freezer for a mead later this summer.
No brewing today. Grilling locally made German sausages (made by a German guy) , along with German potato salad, red cabbage, and obviously good lagers. Dad gets to set the menu today !
I brewed yesterday, a chocolate/coffee porter, for my brew club’s Iron brewer competition. Today, band practice, and dinner with the family.
Happy Father’s Day to all the brewing dads out there!
Yep this is my second annual father’s day parti gyle brew. Last year I said I would never do it again. But I guess it’s like having kids, you forget what a pain in the arse they are and want more.
First runnings is an imperial oatmeal stout using cold steeped dark grains. Second runnings will be an English bitter. Heating up the water now for the bitter.
Doing a black IPA today with my boys! Going to call it Angus Lives! Black IPA after our dearly departed and much loved black lab brew dog Angus! Having some nice Donkey Punch chili beer from Black Bottle here in Fort Collins as our session beer, drinking it out my Arrogant Bastard Ale glass…one of last years Father’s Day gifts. Life is good!!!
Absolutely Jeff. Claus is fantastic. Can’t be too many places like that left. I had some pretty good sausages (and beer) when I went up your way to Frankenmuth last year.
Rinsed some quinoa and started soaking it for malting purposes. No other brewing activities here. I was sick as a dog all day yesterday so today has been a slow one for me.
Not brewing today as we just returned from our camping trip up in Rocky Mountain Nat’l Park. Great weekend with my wife and daughter. Back to brewing next weekend!
Actually, I brewed 10 gallons of Saison on Saturday. On Father’s Day, I bottled my second round entries for the NHC (to be hand delivered today ), along with some grillin’ and chillin’ with a Brett Saison and some Witbier.
