Was hoping to get some recipe critique for this Brown Ale i did. OG ended up being 1.061 checked gravity after 3 weeks and was 1.030 should be 1.014. Instead of transferring to secondary i put it back into primary stirring up the yeast cake for a week more before checking again. I welcome your thoughts and below is a brew day video.
Best brew video of the day that I have seen all day
What yeast did you use? That’s probably the biggest factor. Also have you ever checked or calibrated your mash thermometer? You might be mashing hotter than you thought and killed some enzymes.
^^^dmtaylor might be onto something.
I have that same thermometer, and last weekend I detected that it had wigged over the summer…
now reads about 12 degrees hotter than actual temp.
Fun video…I need fuel.
If it is a thermo related issue, this one is an absolute steal. It’s made by the company that sells the Thermapen, has nearly the same accuracy at a fraction of the price. Best deal in thermometers out there IMO.

It’s what I have and I love it.
+1 great addition to my tool box
Yeah, in one shot on the video with grain in the wort, it looked like it was starting to boil. Sure to undo some enzymes.
I figured that was either time lapse or extreme mash out.
The yeast was WLP001. In the video the part with the grains bubbling was my attempt at getting to mash out temps. The thermometer has never been calibrated and i think i just may go with a new thermometer.
