Does this honey seem legit

Im talking to this guy on Facebook marketplace selling this honey in buckets for $3/lb. Does this seem legit? I’m going to talk to him later today.

$3/lb is on the lower price point but not unreasonable for bulk “plain” honey. The only thing I can’t see is where they’re sourcing their honey as they say on the jar “BA Group, LLC Distributed by Misses Honey” in National City.

Probably worth a flier to see if it works

IMHO honey starts to get distinctly noticeable “GOOD” when it has flower varietal, exact location it was farmed(?), specific information like that.

ive tried messing with a lot of honeys for fermentation and tbh ive found the vast majority taste somewhat generic, unless you get really well packaged, well stored very intentionally well produced honey, which is rare.

nothing wrong with it, but ive found fermentation tends to strip away almost all but the deepest tastes in honey. its not my favourite fermentable.

The fact that there’s no solid info on Misses Honey or BA Group would give me pause. The price is cheap and sometimes the old adage comes into play. It’s honey, possibly not 100%, but impossible to determine whether it’s been adulterated or not.

Oh, and I forgot to say that at least in the case of Canada the honey regulations are VERY weak.

AFAIK, bulk honey can be imported, and if it is mixed with some canadian honey it can be labelled as “produced in Canada”, but in fact may be made through sucrose-fed bees with no concern for quality, just quantity.
