Reputable honey testing?

I got some honey and want to check if it’s legit. Does anyone have a honey testing service they would recommend?

The only place I know of used to be at Texas A&M, however the professor that ran that program passed away - and the service along with it.

You might look for a local agriculture school or service and consult with them.

His system mapped the contents of sucrose, glucose, and fructose, measured free pollen, and, under a microscope, matched pollen to specific regional pollen sources. I’m not sure that he specifically said “legit” or not, but he would note that the glucose/fructose ratios were typical or atypical.

It really is difficult to determine at home, but you can put some into a small glass jar - if it doesn’t crystallize at all, it’s probably gotten some corn syrup added. Fructose discourages crystallization, but so can microfiltration. Fructose is also incredibly sweet. All this said, there are varietals that don’t crystallize readily, so YMMV.
