Enjoyed it Denny! If anyone would have given me odds that you would be talking pumpkin beers on your inaugural podcast, I would have bet the farm against it…but seriously good fun (if that makes sense?)
Any idea how to download it for us Android tablet users? I can stream it if I want to burn up all of my data. But the rss link doesnt work. Something about google reader not being able to read it. I have no troubles downloading from Brewing Network or Beersmith…
What program are you trying to use? iTunes is like the finickiest of the bunch and we’ve got her working through there. In the meanwhile for this episode you can directly download from here:
I liked the beer news talk…otherwise it was a repeat podcast of what Denny did with the brewing network a while ago along with info from drew beechum’s podcast about pumpkin beers with the brewing network…along with some misc. brewing tips
You guys need someone like Doc from the BN to be super drunk and add in random comments that are slightly on topic and hilarious…and a drunk of the week call in
Referring to the maple question someone sent in, I second Drew’s recommendation for Olive Nation extracts. They have just about everything and they are fairly local to me. I even got the Fenugreek Drew mentions from them, but haven’t used it yet. It’s hard to believe it gives a maple flavor when you smell it.
Definitely enjoyed the podcast. Looking forward to the next one.
Initial thoughts, halfway through but need to take a breakfast break:
You guys gotta fade in the music. I’ve been startled twice now and I’m only halfway through.
I’m looking forward to being an IGOR.
That “NHC triangle test”? Yeah, there were no differences in the beer. Despite all the beer I drank that week, I distinctly remember that because the guy in front of me at the talk heard me mumble ‘Don’t think these are different’ and he tried to convince me otherwise. Ha.
+1 on the Olive Nation recommendation. Except their cherry extract. It’s still medicinal.
As always I really enjoyed the Drew and Denny dynamic and I’ll be listening more in the future. And Igor-ing, I hope.
One suggestion: you could probably bump the compression settings up a notch or two. 120 MB for an hour doesn’t seem to be necessary for podcast quality. The most recent Basic Brewing, for example, is 26 MB.
Thanks for your suggestion, Sean. I’ve been thinking the same thing. Being an audio engineer fot 50 years makes that tough to do, but I know it won’t really hut anything. I’ll play around with it.
