Falcon - New hop?

Stopped in the homebrew store today looking for some Simcoe.  They were out, but the guy suggested Falcon hops as a sub.  I have never heard of this hop nor can I find anything on the net.  Anyone ever hear of this hop before?

I was told these are just like Simcoe.

It may have been Falconer’s Flight.  They are a blend and AFAIK have some simcoe in them.  I wouldn’t say they are just like simcoe, but they make a nice IPA.

I was just geeting ready to say the same thing. Falconer’s Flight is blended hops. Simcoe is part of it so is Citra, Amarillo and a few more. Nice hop. Aint “Just like Simcoe”.

He did call it Falconer’s Flight now that you mention it.  Thanks for the info.

Under that name I found this.

It is with great pleasure that Hopunion LLC announces the release of Falconer’s Flight™, an exclusive proprietary hop blend created to honor and support the legacy of Northwest brewing legend, Glen Hay Falconer.

In celebration of Glen’s cutting edge style and the ever-evolving nature of the craft beer industry, Hopunion has developed Falconer’s Flight™. This novel proprietary pellet blend is comprised of many of the Northwest’s most unique hop varieties and is perfect for any Northwest-style IPA. Each hop has been hand selected for its superior aromatic qualities, imparting distinct tropical, citrus, floral, lemon and grapefruit tones.

I used some that I got from a friend to make a CDA and a hoppy red.  They turned out really nice.  Even Denny liked the CDA

It’s interesting, I think my experience with Falconer’s Flight has been - great flavor, great bitter, so-so aroma.

Cross dressing Amateur?

Interesting indeed…aroma is the main thing I use them for.

I have an ounce that I purchased.  Will give them a try.

I’m gonna make up my own style of dark hoppy beer called Isengard Pale Ale.  None more black!!

As a matter of fact yes, that’s what it is called.  It was written on the whiteboard in the hospitality suite at NHC, just for you.  :-*

I would have guessed Cascadian Dark Ale but I would have been way off.  8)

Paul

Nah, you would have been right on.  It’s a Cascadian Dark Ale I named Cross Dressing Amateur in beersk’s honor. ;D

Shut up, you didn’t!

I totally did. ;D

Ask Denny and Jeff, they were at NHC.  Denny tried it, I’m not sure if Jeff did but he might have seen the whiteboard with the name there.  Maybe not though, it kicked pretty fast.

Yep, he certainly did!  Of the 2,176,512 CDAs there, Tom’s was the only one I really liked.

Thanks again D ;D

The name makes the beer though.

Of course I tried it!  Who could resist with a name like that?

Oh, I see, you mean a Noonan Black Ale.

Noonan!! Noonan!!
