Nice, wonder if they’re becoming dated?

I wondered if they’re trying to ‘clean out the cupboard’.

I decided to compare prices with Morebeer.  I don’t buy full bags, but, I like to buy semi-bulk.

@ Great Fermentation’s
$41.70: 30# Briess 2-row
$53.70: 30# Briess White Wheat
$8.99: shipping
$104.39: total

@ Morebeer
$32.07: 30# Briess 2-row
$32.97: 30# Briess Red Wheat
$0: shipping
$65.14: total
(or GW White Wheat for $37.15 for 30#)

At Morebeer the malt gets cheap when you buy in 10# increments. Once you cross $59 total, shipping is free. Up until recently I was using Adventures in Homebrewing for their points program. I had a lot of points from purchasing a Grainfather. Those are gone and I have gone back to Morebeer.

Quite a difference, thanks for posting.  I usually use my LHBS for grains, but always good to have a backup plan.

I agree -BIG difference.  In addition, More Beer’s Fast Free shipping is, well, fast and free - 2 days to my location. I’d have to pay extra for two day elsewhere …~$25 extra.

Off-topic, but do people typically get that kind of service from MoreBeer? It’s 3-4 days for the actual shipping to me, which is understandable, but when I use their free shipping they also hold my order for 2-3 days before it ships. I kinda thought that was the tradeoff for the free shipping deal.

I usually get prompt shipping with orders that meet the free shipping $$$ amount.  Never ordered whole bags of grain though, if that makes a difference.

On a recent order from More Beer during non business hours, my item shipped the next business day and I had it on my porch in 2 days. It was shipped FEDEX free. I don’t know if that is routine or not.

You live in the middle of nowhere, on top of a mountain. So yeah, I think you are on to something
