Ha! Thought you was gonna see some nice young hop shoots or tendrils didn’t ya! ;D
I figure its probably getting about that time somewhere across America though. If you’ve got any pics of young starts you know everybody is going to want to see them, especially after this winter.
I shoveled snow again today. Now were are getting more from the NE, wich means it is wet heavy stuff off of Lake Huron.
Looks like it might be a long time until spring here. Will be looking at pictures of 3 ft. high hops before mine poke through the ground. Though some have it worse, I shouldn’t complain.
I checked on mine yesterday, nothing yet. I do however have chives growing, never seen them this early. We have had the mildest winter I can remember here in the Northern Rockies. The temps have been in the 50’s in the day, make me want to start gardening.
My Centennial have grown continually for a year now, cut back once to the ground, and are back to the top. The frost we got seems to have affected them, but it might be time to cut them all the way down and let them grow again.
maybe in my next house. right now, I can throw a 1/2bbl keg from one side of my fence to the other. though I could easily grow some at my inlaws house as they have a lot of land.
plus, I’ve always heard the 90-100df heat in the summer plus the humidity are terrible growing conditions?
If I had shoots like that I’d be hooting and hollering! I do finally have three different types up, one each of Sterling, Golding and Centennial… but they’re “just” poking through now, less than a quarter of an inch. Just enough to identify them as hop shoots really. I’m hoping for the rest to poke through soon.
