Figure it out for yourself. Pour 4 2 oz. samples. Hit each with a measured dose of coffee. Decide which you like best and scale up the amount of coffee.
I have a Chocolate Coffee Stout that I used Starbucks Via in. It turned out very nice. No dilution, no beans to mess with. I used 4 of the packets. The final product seemed right at the tipping point of being enough. So I may go with 5 next time. I liked the flavor of Columbia better than the other.
Well, what’s worked is doing what I said! ;) I’ve found that there isn’t one amount that works for every batch. Since coffee is bitter, you need to balance the amount against the bitterness in the beer.
Wish I was going to CBC this year. Go by the Picobrew booth and say hi to everybody for me.
Denny, I’m not trying to win gold at NHC, just need a quick turn around on a cask for an event while I’m gone. 10 shots? 12? 20? I have no idea. What have you used in the past. Just give me a starting point.
I’d go in the neighborhood of 10. I guess that too is dependent on your machine. I don’t think that would be overpowering. That is figuring you use 6g/shot.
