I saw that a regular contributor here was recently attacked rather intensely and persistently by a jerk on another forum for not liking Briess malts.
I am glad that type behavior is rare here.

Crazy.
This place is 99% polite. It’s why I come here.
This is where the grown-ups hang out to discuss beer.
I’ve actually stopped going to the “other” forums and spend all of my time here…where I get to talk to real homebrewers and professionals
I’m trying to picture myself laying awake at night trying to come up with the most hateful thing I can say to a person who simply doesn’t like a certain brand of malt… that night would end with a bang.
Some of you may remember the early days of the forum here we had a few trolls and jerks who finally got bored with the civility of decent folk and took their antics elsewhere. I had some very odd PM discussions with a couple of really creepy folks. Man, its been a breeze being a mod here the last 3 or 4 years. You guys are the best invisible friends a guy could have!
Big +1 from a new guy.
I love coming here because I learn a lot! There is no such thing as a dumb question. Thanks to all for having a teaching mind set!!!
Having been here for a bit, my guess is that we have a couple things going for us. 1. Decent people to begin with. 2. Many of you go to NHC, so it would be kind of weird meeting nice people with whom you’ve been a butt hole to for the past year. I said, couple things, so I’ll keep the other reasons to myself for now.
+1 from another newb. This is the only forum I’ve been able to enjoy for more than a couple months. I ride a Harley but have yet to find a forum that’s very civil at all. This place is full of truly great folks.
I read and got a feel for a few of the other forums before joining in here, taking in info and comparing it to my own experience. But in some cases, when I was about to join in a discussion, it had already dissolved into ugly, unnecessary BS - no time for that. Maybe bad timing, but I moved on. But this forum is a few notches above that stuff. People disagree here but it’s usually a GOOD thing, because we learn something in the process, instead of just talking a bunch of territorial BS.
And in closing, Briess malts rule! If your not down with Briess, you don’t know what you’re doing. /sarcasm [emoji12]
Edit - your does not = you’re. I’m a few pints in tonight.
Yep, some other domestic 2 row will destroy your beer. There are no other variables.
I don’t know if I like Briess malts or not, but, I promise to be nice to those who do and don’t.
Challenge accepted.
+1 from another newbie love this forum have tried others as well no bs here.
So am I!
Not only is this place incredibly civil but it’s also nice not to have new threads posted so fast that a good discussion gets lost.
I kind of like being a butthead and engaging in what you all may call trolling, but I prefer to call it homebrewing smack talk. What amazes me is that people get upset about a post on the internet. It’s the internet, fer chrissakes…it’s not like they are telling it to your face.
In a way, they are saying it to your face. That said, if you weren’t a troll ;), life wouldn’t be as much fun! I guess I’ve known you long enough to know when you’re serious and when you’re not.
