…I’m dry hopping and the bag won’t stay down because I can’t find the glass marbles I usually use!!
I got them with a recipe kit a long time ago, but I can’t even think of where to start looking for new ones at a store…Toys R Us?
Anything I can use in a pinch? Trying to think of something I can sanitize and drop in there…
Thx

if its in keg ou can just set the keg on its side. More hops will come in contact with the beer.

…or if you’re not in a hurry just let them float until them become saturated and sink. I think it usually takes about a few days for them to sink.

anything stainless steel - washers, nuts, etc
you can get stainless pie weights at most kitchen stores. they are a long chain of stainless ball bearings.
I like the shot glass idea…but I might need a tall skinny one to fit through the carboy opening…
As for nuts in my hop sack…I’ll leave that alone…making beer not tea

I considered that until I realized the tiny hole that the wire runs through to hold the chain together. First use, no problem. Second use, what’s all this black stuff inside my balls?
And as far as them sinking on their own, I have not seen this happen out of dry hopping in carboy for around 50 batches (both pellet and leaf). I just fill the carboy as much as possible and pretend it’s good.

You don’t need anything at all. I’ve never used weights in dry hop bags and I’ve never felt the beer suffered for not using them. Make life easy for yourself and just forget about 'm!

That Barracuda helicopter worked great for aeration. No wonder I was getting 110% efficiency, the lead was throwing off my OG.

Try looking in the toy section at Wal Mart. That is where I have found mine.

You can get decorative glass marble in any craft store like Michael’s. Or in flower shops. They come in bags of 100 or so for $3 or $4.
