I was hoping to be National for the 2nd round here… I have never judged the 2nd round before so I figured I would sign up to judge this year in the morning. My written exam was odd and I think it has not even been started to be graded yet :-/
I’ll be judging the morning session. Not sure what category but I’m thrilled to be judging the final round for the 4th year in a row! 8)
Judging confirmation emails went out today, so that should answer some of your guys’ questions.
See you all there!
Did anyone who was assigned as a judge not receive an e-mail on Friday? Janis sent out another request for volunteers today, so I went to the site to check if I completed my registration. To my surprise, I discovered that I have been assigned as a judge.
I am assuming that the AHA will be providing score sheet labels. Can anyone verify that my assumption is correct?
Last year they did not, but it might depend on the local organizer.
I think I would bring labels.
I figured out why I did not receive a confirmation e-mail message. The problem was clearly between my keyboard and my chair. :) I missed a letter in my e-mail address, so the message must have been returned as non-deliverable.
I have a few labels left over from a previous competition. However, it looks like I am going to have to pick up a pack of blank 5160 or 8160 labels on my way home from work tomorrow.
Yeah def a good idea… It varies per competition you judge at… Most now usually have the labels but sometimes they either don’t or they plan on having the labels but then they can’t get them to print day of etc… Writing out that info is tedious for sure.
haven’t received my judge category via e-mail, so I logged in and noted I was assigned to Light Lager.
anyway, just in case anyone else is still waiting for their assignment, you might try that.
cheers–

Awesome. At least your pallet won’t be destroyed. ![]()
I got sour ales. mmm.
There is a local judge who always volunteers to judge sour ales. Outside of the Trappist-brewed Tripels, Duvel, and the odd bottle of Goudenband, I am not much of a Belgian beer drinker these days.
Looks like I’m Amber Hybrids. Love a good Düsseldorf Alt.

I almost entered one this year… but didn’t ![]()
Just think, some of you guys could have been tasting my beer. If only I had brewed one that won of course. I guess thats kind of on me though, now that I think of it. So I kind of forget what my point was going to be. Sounded good in my head though.
