Hello, I want to make my bottling day easier and was considering using large growlers like the Mancan 128oz or similar cheaper version available on Amazon.
Anybody has experience with them? Is it easy to carbonate with sugar in them?
The other options would be to switch to keg but it’s a bit too expensive and I would need an extra fridge as I’m using my current one for fermentation.
Thanks for any feedback regarding the best growler for my purposes.
I have one of the cheaper version, and I have sugar primed in them. I use the tap replacement cap, for on the go. It will work, but corny kegs work way better. I only use mine for taking them on the go now.
Thanks a lot Nicholas, I am curious to know in what way the corny work better? Thanks for letting me know.
These “mancans” (dumb name) don’t look cheaper than kegging they look way more expensive. $195 for a complete set up and $42 for additional 128 oz cans? You will find a few used corny kegs and a co2 set up will be a lot less expensive and a lot easier to use.
Right, followed your advice and went with a cannonball setup with a nice discount from Northern Brewer. Much cheaper indeed at the end.
Thanks!
Sweet!
