Neo1 hops in an American Wheat Beer - Yes or No?

I brewed an American wheat beer last spring that was very good and had just a bit of citrus character to it. It was 50% Pilsner malt, 50% wheat malt, Hallertauer Mittelfrueh hops and WLP320 yeast. I am going to brew one again soon and want to emphasize the citrus, so I was considering adding some Neo1 hops at flameout. Any opinions on whether that will work or not? I could dry hop or use Citra or Simcoe, but I don’t want to change the character of the beer much other than adding more citrus.

I did a hazy IPA this Summer that had a ton of flavor that I thought would go in an Amer Wheat Beer really nicely. It wasn’t bitter at all despite having 12 oz of Citra and Mosaic hops added. (2 oz Citra at 5 min, 2 oz Mosaic at 0, 2 oz both in a whirlpool, 2 oz both in a dry hop). I was thinking about doing the same thing in a Wheat but with 6 oz of Cryo (same hops, same schedule, but only 1 Cryo Citra, 1 Cryo Mosaic, 1 of both, 1 of both).

IOW…. Go for it!

I’m a fan of Lemondrop hops for citrus flavor.

I have yet to try Neo1. It sounds good, maybe like lemon?  If you like lemon, try Centennial. For orange, Amarillo.

I’ve tried Lemondrop and Mouteka in an American Wheat a few times looking for a lemon/lime thing.  Well I never got that, but I did get a nice citrusy presence. Was a nice combination.

Consider Omega Star Party as the yeast selection…just a thought.  Cheers.

Lemon zest at flame out.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I can’t change the yeast at this point. Since I have the Neo1 hops already and nobody thought that they would be terrible, I will go ahead with my original plan to add them at flameout (actually it would be “plug out” on my electric system).
