New Blog

Drew and Denny have graciously granted me privileges to blog on the Experimental Brewing website.  I am going to attempt to consolidate much of what I have posted on this forum into coherent blog posts over the next few months.  I chose to make this move because I found myself wasting forum bandwidth by repeating information from previous posts.  The specter of burnout was also starting to rear its ugly head due to having to post long responses in threads.  It took me years to recover from my last bout with home brewer burnout.  In fact, I was away for so long that I was certain I would never come back to the hobby.

Good for you that’s awesome!

Looking forward to it, Mark!

I hope you cross-post to this forum the way Marshall has been with his Brulosophy posts. There’s always a lot of food for thought in the information you share, and I get as much from the follow-up discussion as the information itself.

Meh… [emoji6]

Just kidding. I’ll read it

Nice.  I’ll be reading.

EDIT - I hope it helps with potential burnout, Mark. You’ve put some really worthwhile time and effort into getting good yeast info out there, and I’m very appreciative of your efforts FWIW. Enjoy.

Mark, I’m so glad you took us up on the offer!  Looking forward to it.

I agree with all the above. It will be great to have all that content in a version that has it all together

Once again, guys I only made this move in order to consolidate information in one place.  Blogging there will allow me to reduce the size of the posts that I make on this forum.  At least, that is my goal.

You need to make some procedure guides as well. Maybe a homebuilt negative pressure environment?

A blog will certainly simplify keeping track of info. I’m looking forward to it!

+1

Mark, even if you don’t chime in on the conversation this would be a way for the community on here to discuss the post.

As my Kiwi aunt would say, “good on ya, Mark!” Looking forward to the posts.

Mark,
I think it’s a smart move. This way you can reach a larger audience without having to repeat yourself all the time. It may take you away from your readers in the sense that you won’t be getting the immediate feedback and interaction that you get on the forum, but at the same time it may keep you from the ominous specter of burnout. I think I may be bold in speaking for many of us here on the forum that It would be such a huge loss if you were to burn out. With that said, I’m wishing you all the best in this new endeavor. good Luck!

Good to hear it Mark.

Next thing… you will be writing the book! Good on ya’s Mark!

Or Zymurgy article. I’d love to see more brewing engineering/science heavy articles. Seems most articles like that tend to follow the craft beer industry, it’d be interesting to learn more about how the rest of the microbiology world does yeast. Macrobeer too for that matter.

Excited to see this. Would love some posts on some of the English strains I haven’t tried yet like London ESB, Yonkshire, etc.

That’s good new, Mark. Look forward to reading your posts. Wouldn’t want you getting burnt out! Every now and then, I feel just a slight bit burnt out. But fortunately it never lasts for more than about a week or 2.

LOL

I have known many people who have reached the point of burnout and never came back to the hobby.

Nice assignment Mark.

I will look forward to reading your Blogs.
