Nugget Substitute

For a couple of IPAs that I’m brewing over the next month, Nugget is used as the bittering hop.  The substitution charts here don’t show Chinook as a sub for Nugget, but Nugget is a sub for Chinook.  Pretty sure I’m overthinking this, but will Chinook be a good dub for Nugget?  I have Chinook on hand and would rather use my inventory.  Thanks.

This chart shows Chinook as an acceptable substitute.

Which hops will you be using for the late additions?

Great chart, Bob!  Thanks!

Cool, this looks like an older version of the chart from BYO magazine March-April 2008 that I use a lot.

The first beers is a lot of Citra late and dry hop.

The second beer is all Centennial.

Change your thoughts?

I’ve never used citra so I can’t really comment on that one, but I’d definitely go all centennial and not bother subbing for the nugget.

Any reasonably high alpha hop that isn’t too aggressive should work.

I have used Citra as a late hop addition but learned a long time ago that I needed to cut it with something like Amarillo or it gets overpowering pretty quickly with the passion fruit notes.  I have usually used a 50/50 mix of the two which seems about right for my palate.
