Pics of recent brews?

Both of these look absolutely delicious.  I am sure any color difference is simply in the eye of the beholder and light dependent.

man, didn’t think it could get any better but then cracked his maple mead.  Edit maple tej…I don’t know what this means so have to google…The maple has an unbelievable presence. There’s  a hazelnut like maple quality that is so unique. Must get details Pete- i’d love to try and make this one.

Tej is Ethiopian honey wine. Beyond that I know nothing about it.

Glad you liked Ken, and thanks for the amazing lagers (this isn’t part of the official swap. Since I’m new to lagers Ken kindly offered some of his flawless examples to educate me, and Since Ken is on his first batch of mead, I returned the favor). Tej is Ethiopian honey wine using gesho root as a bittering agent to balance the sweetness. I call this “Tej” because I used hops instead. I also added black tea and vanilla beans. Also we used all maple sap instead of water. My girlfriend and I came up with the recipe, she loves maple.

That sounds absolutely killer!

+1 !

Yeah, that sounds really good. Love maple.

Maple Tej was really good. having the rest tonight before heading to the Hofbräuhaus

Prost!

Sounds like you have a rough night ahead of you… ;D

Spent Almost the entire day doing brewery stuff, cleaned the kegerator, cleaned lines and taps, cleaned kegs , swapped kegs, bottled up 5 gals of an ale for a friend as a house warming gift and kegged the other half for me:) having a well deserved Pils and enjoying some cold sunshine!

Looks tasty, Gary!

Tastes tasty too John! Now I need a Nap…

Looks nice Gary. Nothing like a Pils to quench thirst.

Very nice beer.  Really like the bitterness up front. Caramel with a very slight nuttiness. Not as dry as style description. But not really sweet either. I had a bad day mash temp wise. Came in pretty high. Stirred down to 155F and let it ride hence the low attenuation. But overall I am going to enjoy drinking this keg.

Edit: adding mineral taste to the description.

How do you like the mangrove Jack? I have the same yeast in the fermenter for an English Pale Ale. The jury is still out, I only have had a gravity sample but the fermentation didn’t go exactly as I Anticipated.

I like the taste of the beer. I don’t taste any specific esters but the beer tastes like a bitter to me. That’s not much of a description I know. Hops and malt come through pretty well.

I like the mouth feel.

The clarity in the photo is from 1 week in keg. I used Whirfloc in the boil but no gelatin or other clarifiers after fermentation.

Lots of diacetyl after fermentation(2 days after krausen fell). I had to swirl twice over several day period to get the yeast to take it all up. But, it did.

I saved the slurry and am going to use it again and try to get a lower finish gravity.

Prost boys!

Love some Hofbrauhaus. What’s the seasonal this month - Maibock?

No it’s the hopfen spezial…it’s what I would call the German IPA. Unfiltered dry hoped 6.3%. Really good.

That sounds great. Pretty sure I’d drain one of those.
