Looks like Sam has gone nitro…white ale, IPA, and coffee stout. Anyone had these yet?
Not me, and not really in a big hurry after my experience with the Guinness Nitro IPA, let us know what you think if you try some out
The IPA is ok, the coffee stout is really good (reminds me of Left Hand).
I have no use for White Ales, nitro or otherwise.
Yeah the stout seems obvious. As others have written, nitro IPA in general seems out of place.
Yeah, I’ll buy the stout. It’s a no brainer for nitro and sounds good. The IPA or two I’ve had on nitro didn’t fare well in terms of hop character, so I’ll pass. Belgian on nitro, pass.
Isn’t that kinda the point though?
I look at it this way: Nitro beer seeks to emulate cask ale pushed through a sparkler. Both deaden any “sharpness” the beer may have. Do that on an IPA, and the beer just kinda sucks. An American IPA needs that sharpness.
AIPA also needs some decent carbonation to get that nice hop aroma to pop.
I’d give an English IPA a try on some time, but I still wouldn’t have high hopes that it would appeal to my tastes. I wonder if Left Hand has ever put 400lb Monkey on nitro…
I’m drinking the Guinness IPA right now.
Nitro isn’t some sort of silver bullet for any beer. The marketeers have been at it again.
They do at the brewery. I really like it.
