If you are heading to Asheville, and are interested in splitting costs for transportation or accommodations, this is the place to get connected! Tell us where you’re coming from and on which dates - NHC is Wed/Thurs and HBC is Fri/Sat, but a lot of folks are might be coming into town early or sticking around later to enjoy all that Asheville has to offer!
For clubs that are transporting kegs for Club Night, please also put up a post in case there are some other folks in your area who can help or hop a ride.
If you are flying, there are very few direct flights into Asheville (AVL). It is likely that you will have a connecting flight from either Atlanta, GA (ATL) or Charlotte, NC (CLT).
Because of this, there is a fair chance there will be other attendees on you flight to AVL. Wear a brewing t-shirt and introduce yourself - join together to grab a cab/uber - they run about $50.
There is a bus for $1 - the S3 line will get you within 2 blocks or so of your hotel - info in link above, but it is infrequent “Asheville Transit System operates a bus from New Airport Rd at Airport Park Dr. to S3 + N3 Bus Bay every 3 hours. Tickets cost $1 and the journey takes 32 min.”
Crispy is 100% correct. It’s also worth noting the Asheville Airport (AVL) is under construction. As of right now you have to exit the terminal to get back to baggage claim.
The Rideshare waiting area for pickup is a 5-6 minute BRISK walk from baggage claim, or take the shuttle which will takes less than 1 minute. Depending upon the time of arrival getting a Rideshare can be difficult. If you are having trouble getting a ride or just need to unwind a few minutes, the Marathon station adjacent to the Rideshare area has a taproom called Mountain River Taproom which has 16 taps and 14 of them are typically local breweries.
When I first arrived to WNC, I was rather surprised to learn that some gas stations (Triangle Stop) had well curated craft beers on tap. If you stop by the one just outside the airport, say hello to Dan (bartender) - tell ‘em Crispy from MALT sent you ;-). And don’t forget, Sierra Nevada is a five minute drive from the airport.
You still might be able to get a discount. I already booked my hotel before the information was dropper. I proceeded to called the hotel I’m staying at and they gave me the discount. So worth trying it saved me #300
