SS Bottles

I know the stainless steel growlers are the big thing right now, but I think this may be pushing it a bit:

$50 a six pack plus shipping…just make sure you don’t recycle them.

$50!  :o

That’s crazy…

Dave

I didn’t look at the price when I got the email from NB.  All I thought was, “Huh, kinda cool I guess…wait, why would I want those?”

Kinda cool looking, but $50 for a sixer of SS bottles?  At least it comes with a cardboard carrying container…

If it didn’t come pre-printed with the “Brew Share Enjoy” logo you could put a label on it, fill it with some tasty beverage, and give it as novelty gift.

If somebody would sell blank aluminum bottle-cans. I think they’d do well. Similar purpose - you can bring them places that glass bottles aren’t allowed - but at a much lower price. I suppose the liner might not last through multiple fillings and that’s where stainless has an advantage. But it’s an expensive advantage.

Beer of Steel?

I would rather spend $50 on a 5 gallon bottle corny keg.

+1

Fill it with Bud Platinum?

At first I thought “neat”! :)  Then I read $50!  I said “Whoa!” :frowning:

Then I thought, what is the benefit to a ss bottle (at $9 per bottle) over a recycled glass bottle?  The glass bottle you can see if it is dirty, mine have been recycled (never bought new) for years, and were free (or $2 per with 12oz of free beer). ???

I own one SS growler in case I need for non-bottle (or stealth needed) locations.

Can’t get 'em for $50 anymore…

You can get them for $34.25 @ Deep Wood Brew Products…and the bottles are bare (nothing printed on them).

Maybe not where you shop. Going to my LHBS tomorrow.

Those could be good for shipping samples without the worry of breakage. Intriguing…but a little out of my budget of free…er… recycled.

Ya. Just can’t do that. I have ss 16oz cup I bought for on the go on the river but it makes all my beer tast tinny. I use 64 oz Nalgene bottles. They are super bad ass. I also use 32 oz nalgene to bring samples to club meetings. They are hard to find but I will share my sweet spot with all that wishes to us nalgenes.

Thanks for the link. Still pricy, but a lot more reasonable. And If I’m going to pay that kind of price for a bottle (not that I think I would), I don’t want someone else’s dorky logo/writing all over it.

Check the bottom of those bottles, if its has a #3 or #7 it can leech BPA into whatever your drinking. Nalgene was known for using BPA plastics in the past so I would check just to be sure.

He’ll the beer will kill me before the BPA does. They do have a 7 on the bottom. From my understanding it is of Maine concern when heated or highly acidic liquid is introduced. However this shouldn’t be laken lightly. But hear is the kicker…beer cans are lined with BPA and the FDA has not banned it

You could also be hit by a bus, but you still look both ways when you cross a street!

If you saw a list of the things the FDA said was safe that later showed as poisonous, cancerous or harmful you’d need all day to read it.

Just a heads up!
