Just received the tilt2 floating hydrometer. Any have one or experience using it? I read sometimes during fermentation it can get yeast etc. stuck on it and not be able to read correctly.
Yep. I have two — they’re great for watching for when the gravity stops dropping, but I’d verify FG by another instrument if you need a really accurate measurement.
+1. It’ll tell you when fermentation starts, the temp, fermentation progress and when it stops.
History doesn’t lie. People simply lie about history.
I wouldn’t rely on the numbers you get from them. Krausen can and does form or collect on top of them affecting the way they float which changes the reading.
I use the for every ferment - as others noted, it gives you a chart of progress and you can be certain of reaching terminal gravity, but not the actual gravity reading (no change over a few days). Good luck with your Tilt!
