I’d had a mead made with rain water before, but beer made with treated treated sewage water was a first.

Btw, some of these commercial beers that used recycled water are on tap around AZ.
And I heard that if you want to use the “Pure Water” used to make those beers, I think it’s available to homebrewers if you contact the Pima County Southwest Water Campus team.
Local club is doing this with a purification company. Brewing a bunch of beers and serving at an event. Not sure the source water, but the treated water was over 50ppm dissolved solids. That makes me a bit suspicious.
I believe that all surface water is “recycled”. For instance, here in Milwaukee the drinking water is taken from Lake Michigan, sent to the houses/businesses for their use and then sent to the sewer system. The waste water treatment plant then “recycles” the water to remove the impurities. The treated water is then sent back to Lake Michigan - recycled. Therefore, we are already using recycled water.

I agree, in a sense all water is recycled. That said, not all water comes from sewage water. Seblantics.
My first reaction was “you mean municipal tap water?”.

Virtually every drop that you drink has passed through something nasty. This truth doesn’t diminish the public’s need to have assurance that their water didn’t come from “that” source. I’ve been a water resources engineer for over 30 years and I’ve seen this that entire time. Putting it in the ground or a river and pulling it back out makes everything all right (even though the water is the same).

On an episode of “Red Dwarf” (BBC Sci-fi comedy) the crew is stranded on one of the shuttle crafts and the mechanoid cleaning servant Kryton remarks, “The urine recycle system is so overworked that it’s beginning to taste like Dutch lager.”
