Versatile Hops

Hi,

I’m working on designing a club brewing experiment and I’m trying to identify a few varieties of hops (and eventually pick just one) that’s suitable for a wide range of styles.

The experiment will involve about a dozen SMaSH beers to be made with the same malt (100% Pils) and the same hops (TBD), but with different yeast strains. So, that one hop variety will have to be suitable for several beer styles including: American ales, British/Scottish pale beers, Saison (and other Belgian pale beers), Pilsner (or other continental pale lagers).

Looking at this chart from YCH www.yakimachief.com/wp-content/uploads/Yakima-Chief-Hops-Varieties.pdf, it seems that Loral and Crystal have the most stated versatility. Do you agree with this? Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

Sterling would also work.

Or Mt. Hood, or Cascade

+1

Willamette

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I think Sterling (described as daughter of Saaz and Cascade) fits the bill quite nicely.
