Has anyone used these two hops in making an IPA? I like both separately, and so I was thinking of making an IPA using warrior as the bittering hop, and using amarillo in regular additions from 30 minutes to flameout. I’m curious if anyone’s had success or failure using these two together. thanks!
I’ve honestly never used warrior before that I recall - but my understanding is it has a very smooth bitterness. I blend Amarillo with Centennial and Simcoe for my IPA. I love Amarillo. Great hop. You may find Amarillo a little one dimensional by itself though (considering Warrior as a bittering only hop.)
I haven’t used Warrior either, but I love Amarillo as a single hop. I’ve used it a number of times in an IPA and have been very happy with it. I like to do FWH and late additions
Thanks. I do use Amarillo quite a bit and love it.
I’ve used Amarillo with Nugget with great results. I would guess that the combination with Warrior would be similar.
Warrior is a clean bittering hop, that should work. I like Amarillo by itself, but Amarillo and Simcoe match up really really well.
A brewer just can’t go wrong with that combo. I use that combo quite often. If it’s good enough for 3Floyd’s & Dogfish then it’s good enough for me!
I like Columbus and Amarillo together in my IPA
I’ve used Warrior to bitter APAs, but never with Amarillo only Cascade. It works great.
I like columbus, centennial, amarillo and simcoe in my IPA. Oh, and French Strisselspalt. But Amarillo is OK by itself.
