Is Weyermann munich type 2 malt the same as their munich dark malt? Thanks in advance.
Yes. They used to call them Munich Light and Dark, now they’re called Type 1 and Type 2.
Rob is correct. The Dark Munich is around 9L, not that Dark. Durst and Avangard have Dark Munich at 40 EBC, that’s 14.7L. Briess has ones also, 10L, 20L, 30L. I have never used the 20L, or 30L.
German brewers generally refer to two standard Munich types at 15 and 25 EBC, which corresponds to about 6 and 10 SRM, about the colors of the Weyermann malts. Just to cover everything, Weyermann also has the single variety Barke Munich which falls about halfway between them, 7-8 SRM.
I thought so. Thanks everybody!
