What's Brewing this Weekend?

i had a imp pumpkin ale by flying monkeys on the weekend, and it was miles better than the last pumpkin inspired ales i had. good balance of spices, but i think they might have used lactose in it to achieve a sort of milky/condensed milk sensation that you would get in pumpkin pie. it was fairly sweet and thick. just balanced tasting. re: achieving pumpkin flavour idk

Interesting information. The recipe I’m following is actually a combination from an issue of Zymurgy and an issue of BYO and some ideas of my own. No telling how this will turn out.

A good pumpkin ale is truly one of life’s pleasures, IMHO. But the idea of using lactose for sweetness and that “milky” element has crosses my mind. We’ll see how this batch goes and I’ll make adjustments from there.

Thanks for your input!

Cheers!

Brewing a SMaSH lager, with Weyermann Isaria 1924 malt, Spalt hops, and WLP860. My first time with this malt…super flavorful wort already!

For the first day of Autumn, it was a robust porter. This one was “Porter Cumino” - from my archives. Has 2 Tsp of fresh roasted & ground cumin in at flameout.
