wicked weather

Whenever there’s bad weather, I get so tired of the expression “hunker down”.

I have the same strange fascination. I’ve seen a tornado live once in my life, and I have to say that while it was frightening, it was also one of the most exhilirating experiences I’ve ever had.

I watched one go over the farm when I was in high school.  Sounds like great fun until you watch one laying flat in a cattle lot while it goes over you.  and all you can do is pray it doesn’t touch down until it gets past you.   :o

I’ll just say, I don’t need to see another one anytime soon.  Looking up the column of a tornado isn’t as interesting as one might think.  I still love thunderstorms but you can keep the tornadoes.

I was on a dive boat 20 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico waiting for some divers to return when I watched a water spout get a little too close for comfort.  I was a little nervous as I recall.
Once in Cincinnati I went up onto the roof of my apartment building to get a closer look at the sky when a tornado approached across the valley.  The atmosphere was thick.  I probably was, too.
I was in a car once when a tornado passed by within a quarter mile.  Those things are really powerful.  Oak trees four or five feet in diameter were blown down.

A tornado touched down not far from where I lived in Indiana.  I never saw it, but I heard it.  it was very loud.  It wrecked a church that had already burned down, a gas station, venetian blind factory, and of course, a trailer park or two.  No thanks.

I’ve seen one touch down and go right back up where it belongs. Thank God!

Pretty darn scary sight…that’s for sure.

Wonder who they ticked off…a burnin’ and a tornado wreckin’. Think they got the insurance to pay twice? :-\

Good question…talk about two strokes of bad luck. I don’t think I would want to go back there after that. Seems like there’s a target on their property. What a shame.

They were planning to rebuild on the same spot.

I looked it up, it was the factory, a trailer park, and two gas stations.  And it was an F4, confirmed. :o

No mention of the church though.  I can only assume that since it had burnt down the destruction wasn’t attributed to the tornado.  It was near one of the gas stations if I remember right.

Just had a pretty good one roll thorough NE Ohio. GREat lightning show. I was sitting on the front porch with my sister, and a bolt hit right at the end of the driveway. I pooped a little bit.  :-[

Same squall line that came thru here a few hrs. ago. Tornado sirens almost distracted me from my Ruination bomber…

Those things can really be a bother sometimes.  ;D

:o    Tornado sirens as a bother.    :o
Frequency can dull the senses.

The WIND as wicked destructor
this weekend.

Sent my prize aspen snag to explode on the ground,
in a wicked nasty gust
woodpeckers iz lamenting.

The government weather site calling for epic flows
based on record temps melting voluminous snowpack.

Head fer higher ground.
^^that phrase^^
not so bad as Hunker Down?

Nice poetry, pinnah.
Waiting for impending hunker down season here in Florida.
