WLP 041 Origins?

I’m using WLP 041 for the first time (in an Amber Ale now four days in the fermenter), and I’m curious if anybody knows its history. Despite White Labs’s name for the strain–Pacific Ale, it’s a very British yeast. I looked up previous discussions of the yeast, but no mention of its background.

Thanks for any insights you might have.

Mrmalty says (Redhook?). I have a vague memory of it saying Hale’s Ale in the past. Who know?

wouldn’t be surprised if they were the same, no?
