[quote]The issue you just downloaded is right where it was before you downloaded it, in the display of available issues. The “Download” banner that was across the front of it is gone and the issue is available for reading.

I thought that might be the case but it does not seem to be happening. After the downloading stops the download banner is still there and all of the issue icons are locked up (i.e. don’t respond in any way when tapped) until I turn the iPad off and on.
The downloading takes awhile so the iPad goes to sleep. I noticed that it seems that whenever the iPad is “awakened” while downloading Zymurgy the download stops shortly thereafter. I wonder if perhaps the issues are simply not finished downloading when I check on the progress. About how big are these files we’re downloading anyways?
Perhaps tonight I will start the download up before going to bed and let things run hopefully to completion. I hope this will resolve the issue but…
I really don’t know how big the files are. I didn’t time my d/l but I’d guess it took between 5-10 min. Maybe you should adjust your sleep settings when you d/l?

Did not fix it.
I turned the sleep time to “never” and tried again. Eventually the spinning download gears when away and still nothing.
I guess I will wait for a new updated version of the app to come out and then give another go later.
Bummer…I was looking forward to reading Zymurgy from my iPad. Oh well…fortunately, I have DRAFT magazine, Beer Connoisseur read on my iPad in the meantime.
Sorry if you’re experiencing some bugs, we do have an update waiting for approval in the app store which will resolve the splash screen freezing issue, as well as enable iOS5 users to download and install the app.
Regarding the downloading issues bug - we have not experienced that on our end, but are looking into it. The files are quite large (50-75MB) and require a decent internet connection to download (we don’t recommend downloading over cell networks). Also, we had to move the app out of Apple’s Newsstand due to the AHA Model (members only benefit, the magazine isn’t for sale). Because of this, we can only download one issue at a time and it likely the culprit for your buggy experience.
Generally speaking, if you ‘hard close’ the app and restart, most issues will resolve themselves, but please continue to post bugs here!
I use an iPhone 4S and have no problem downloading multiple issues. I’d guess you probably need to free up some memory on your phone. The issue files are quite large.
