Good Golly, Miss Molly!! I frigging love this beer!
Long story short, I’m in the local dive bar and somebody buys me one of these. I was like hey thanks until I took a sip and then I got rocked to my socks! I am thinking “you have got to be kidding me.” A beer like this in a joint like this. It is regional for me, brewed in Munster, IN and I live in Indianapolis.
Wow, just wow. Hoppy with strong citrus and pine notes but with just the right amount of malty sweetness for balance. I nursed that sucker for an hour and enjoyed every minute. I guess they market as a session but I looked up session and it looks like it is a bit strong for session.
Whatever, no matter. This for me is the finest beer I have ever tasted. It agrees with me is what I am saying.
It is one of my favorite session style beers as well. It’s easy drinking, but it does pack a hop punch. I’ve not had it on tap. I’m sure it’s great. 3 Floyds makes killer beers. They’re starting to show up a bit more in NE Ohio, but still rare. I’ve probably had 7 or 8 of their beers. A local joint is advertising a small Zombie Dust release Sunday. I’m going lol. Alpha King is the best APA out there as far as I’m concerned. And Alpha Klaus is one legit American Porter.
I guess I got carried away there. Yum yum is very good. Nobody gets too excited about it, because it is labeled as a session beer, but you’re right, it’s good and brewed to perfection for what it is.
I know one of their brewers and he told me the hops when he handed me one. I want to say Mandarina, Hallertauer Blanc and something else, but I can’t remember for sure. I try not to ask him too many questions, as I’m sure he gets sick of people asking.
I love Alpha Klaus, I wish it were available more of the year.
