I had good luck with a wheat beer that had a 60 min bittering addition, Citra at flameout and a big Citra dry hop. Don’t have my notes but I think it was only bittered to about 25 ibu’s.
You sure you want to use Columbus in a wheat beer? I love me some Columbus, but the dankness doesn’t seem to fit what I’d look for in a wheat beer.
I didnt realise they darken beer. Too late now they are in there.
Dankness not darkness
Oh good. I would think they will be greatly overpowered by the citra. And a 5 minute addition should be more aroma than flavor.
I did an all columbus wheat. Not a good idea…haha. I believe Boulevard’s hoppy wheat has some columbus though. I am gonna use that as my inspiration next time…
I’d guess it would be the other way around.
I’m a big fan of Boulevard’s 80-acre hoppy wheat. On their website it states that they use Bravo, Zeus, Summit, Cascade, Nelson Sauvin. 20 IBU’s. Nelson would be a great hop to try, if you could get your hands on it.
Wow. I don’t know if I can find this my way, but I’ll have to keep my eye out for it. That hop list just screams IPA to me. I have a hard time picturing how it works in a 20 IBU wheat beer.
I dont think they used much of any of the hops. It has what I call a minor hop presence. But a really nice hop aroma.
I will let yall know how mine turns out.
I work my fingers to the bone formulating a wheat beer recipe and look at the danks I get
“Hoppy” beers need dry hops
I have been considering a couple ounces of cascades for that.
